Not AWOL

I'm still here. Just crazy busy right now.

My current 'list' of duties:

Running a household, including 2 kids.
Deep into my degree now.
Working part-time in the evenings Mon-Fri.
Trying to have family days out at weekends.

I'm spinning so many plates that I don't remember to blog, or have time for that matter, so my posts are few and far between!

So, update on my studies so far: I've completed enough courses to get my Certificate in Mathematics. Working towards my Diploma in Statistics and my BSc in Mathematics and Statistics.

Having a few issues with hubby at the moment, not in our marriage, rather that he is having issues with his depression and his work at the moment. One asshole manager to be precise. He's nit-picked for the last few months and unfortunately Mark has been unable to cope with the constant barrage, so he's been signed off for 2 weeks and is now on stronger anti-depressants. If I see that twat of a man (not my hubby obviously lol) I will have a few choice words to say.

Marena seems to be improving, I think the routine of year 1 is agreeing with her. Crap, that's just reminded me that she has homework to do for Monday.

Well, better continue with my assignment which is due in on Wednesday, last one for this module! Only have the exam in October to do then I'll have a couple of month's break before the next modules start, not that I'll get to rest as I have other things to do.

Killerton & A La Ronde

We went to Killerton house on Sunday, and A La Ronde yesterday. Both houses were beautiful but very different. Killerton was big and had WW2 stuff upon entering, it's set on 6400 acres of land and is the largest property owned by the National Trust. A La Ronde was small but ingeniously designed by the cousins that lived there, the amount of time it would have taken them to collect all the shells on display and in the gallery is impressive in its own right, let alone the time it would have taken to collect all the feathers to make the frieze in the drawing room. Truly astounding.

Will be studying over the next two days, then we'll go somewhere on Sunday. Not sure where yet, but will probably be Arlington Court.

Tuesday 8 February 2011

We went to Haldon Forest on Sunday to do the Discovery Trail. We really enjoyed it, it was only a 1.5 mile walk but it was just nice to get out of the house together. We'll definitely go again at some point and Mark would like to get a back harness to carry Seth in so that we can do the harder trails as they aren't suitable for pushchairs.

I don't know where we'll be going this Sunday but we want to use our National Trust membership as a few of the local places start opening this weekend so it'll be a NT place.

My next course starts on Saturday so I need to be super organised as I'll have 2 courses running at the same time until June.

I got my latest TMA back the other day. I got 96, much better than the last score, I'm back on form!

Will be starting work on my next TMA this Saturday, and then going out with the kids on Sunday.

Everything's ticking along nicely at the moment.

Work, Uni, family...

It's all on my mind!

I've managed to sort out a change of working times for when I return from maternity leave, so instead of working every weekend, I will now work Mon-Fri evenings (5-9). It works out much better because Mark wouldn't be able to look after both children for long periods of time due to his depression, and even I find it difficult so there's no way he would cope. Seth is still very demanding of our time, what with being so young, and Marena is somewhere on the Autism Spectrum so it can be difficult to deal with when she's having an episode whilst Seth is crying for something, so it's best that Mark isn't left for long on his own, and as the kids are in bed by 7ish, he only has two hours before he gets peace and quiet.

Marena's teacher is trying to sort out a visit from the educational psychologist to get a diagnosis so that they can get help in the classroom for Marena, but she knows it's autism due to the behaviours that Marena exhibits. It's very frustrating waiting for an 'official' declaration of Marena's issues, but there are loads of people out there with autism who haven't been diagnosed with it, so what's a girl to do? Only problem is that the (add expletives here) Conservatives have cut funding, by the time Marena is diagnosed, there may not be any help for her.

My current course is going OK, and I start another course on 12th Feb. I've had the results from the last course I did which ended in Oct '10, I got 99 on my examinable score, and 98 on my overall score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I won't get that high a score from this course because with my previous TMA I came down with the 'flu the weekend before it was due so I couldn't do the Mathcad work which was the only thing I had left to do, thus I ended up getting 90 which is my lowest score on any of my TMA's (I could've got 97 if the Mathcad had been done and got full marks). I know there's a lot of people out there who would be very happy with a 90, and it is a fantastic score, but my scores have been 97 and above so it was a bit disappointing, I need to get used to it though as I'm only doing level 1 courses at the moment, my next one is the first of the level 2's and I can't expect to get extremely high marks as it gets more complex can I?

So...even though my life is a little 'busy' at the moment i joined Slimming World last Thursday morning. I was going to rejoin WeightWatchers when Seth reached 6 months old (I had to stop when I was pregnant) but was extremely disappointed to see they only have the points plan now, and in all honesty, when I get to my goal weight I can't imagine counting points for the rest of my life! So I went along to a Slimming World meeting instead, and I'm extremely happy with it, minimal counting and measuring, just eating lots of healthy food and it's much more realistic in a long-term view as I won't have to write everything down.

Anyway, that's enough for now, I must get on with the day!
